Unexpected Torture
By: Osob
My throat was dry
The words were choking me
Paralyzing my lips
We remained sitting in the middle of the street
The same hellish sun
The same thirst
There was no one left to bring us water
No one was praying for the night to pass quickly
Our nerves had reached a breaking point
Our skin was acing
Auschwitz
Nobody had ever heard that name
The afternoon went by slowly
In front of us,
Those flames.
The smell of burning flesh,
We had arrived
Your poem really shows how everyone struggled to even get a sip of water and how they were so tired. Your poem also shows their journey all the way to the concentration camp, and how they didn’t know where they were going. Great poem!
ReplyDeleteOsob,
ReplyDeleteThe detail and fluidity in your poem is great! Choosing to write about their arrival at Auschwitz, seeing how much they have changed throughout the novel and coming back to this point in time is an interesting way to take on the situation. Overall, your poem is great and well written.
